Bimrunner Build Thread & Pics

the install is a *****. there is no instructions and most of the pieces need modifying to fit exactly. set aside a solid 6-8 hours for fitment and another 4 for finish welding. its 3/16ths plate, but it will warp. ask me how i know.

If it was prefinished/welded, how difficult would the install be?

remove factory plastic facia and aluminum underframe, separate grille from the facia and reinstall. install the bumper. 6 bolts on each side. trim or remove fender liner (i removed them entirely since they're useless and promote rust) done in less than an hour probably if you're a mechanically adept person. then you spend the next 6 months debating and trying to figure out how to relocate your washer fluid reservoir while not using a squirt bottle

then make a new grille because the factory one is so lame

Rorck, Not sure what it is currently. Assuming you are referring to the rear bumper, I bought it 2 years ago when it was new. At the time the bumper with install (which is admittedly a lot of work) it was in the neighborhood of $2500-3k iirc. This rear bumper requires completely cutting out the rear crossmember. Best way to get the pricing is to email Luke at [email protected]. I am not sure how price breaks down for finished, unfinished and uninstalled.

I just joined the club. Should have my bumper finished by the end of March. Any pros/cons of the bumper? Anything I should add to it? I love your rig.

Make sure you tell him the size tire you are going to run because he will adjust the position of the spare. Be sure to tell Luke to also relocate you trailer plugs. I forgot and now don't have any granted I don't tow with mine. But if you do. I am sure I will think of others.

Ben you take a side profile of the arms when the are closed? I am thinking of having Luke redo my arms once I get my new tires.

Sorry I missed this. What Mikey says. Also ask him to do what he is going to do for mine. I'm opening the wheel well up a bit for bigger wheels and adding a little tube rail for rear protection.

oh wow, so this thing comes in pieces? I was saving my pennies, but if this thing is "some (LOTS) assembly (FABRICATING) required"....

It doesn't come in pieces unless you buy the "kit" version. If you buy the complete bumper it comes ready to install just like any other bumper.
