Bimrunner Build Thread & Pics

For those wondering, I am having King make the rear shocks to specific measurements (thanks to @wfo9). This means, shortly, you should have access to King for LT rear... I'll just be first! :boxer:

hah, we actually had king make us custom rears, so they're probably using what we spec'd. ;)

What about the valving and dampening? Did you need to provide your rigs weight and needs? I know yours and mine are super heavy rigs.

The ICONs aren't in the same league as the Kings for long travel.

As much as I liked my ICONs, it was no debate when we started to order components for my LT build.

Well, maybe this is true.. But I go on first hand experience and actual numbers and specs. I'll also use detailed input from people I know have tried various setups....

For what most of us do, which is drive on trails at slow speeds and daily drive on the road, the ICONs digressive valving could still actually be an ideal choice. I'm sure the Kings are awesome for big hits off-road, I'm just not sure they are the best choice for my needs. I've ridden in a few Jeeps and FJs with them and was not really all that impressed (but I was not driving)

I'm still very interested in them... but when something works well for me.... I tend to stick with it. I have 0 complaints about how my Icons have performed... but then again.... Longer travel IFS is a different animal.

Really curious to hear Ben's review. Probably hard to go wrong with any of them... ICON, FOX, and King are all top notch made in the USA stuff. King is a much more race oriented outfit... but I don't plan to race a 5th gen;-)

And again as I said most systems need to be properly tuned, which not a lot of people spend the time on doing. I've ridden in some LT builds that weren't properly tuned, and they felt worse than crappy stock suspension. The magic is in the tuning.

Something. Either call marshal 's dude or drive south and beg fiberwerx to make me some.

You're SOL with my guy. He gave up the ghost on those. I can however make them for you, considering he made them on my design.

What are you going to do with the fenders?

Sent using 1s and 0s.

Does hope and pray, count as an answer :high5:

I'm honestly having trouble calculating what the +2 will do to clearance.

For me I'm still in wait and see mode.

One thought is to go with a heim UCAs and just get the wheels as far forward as possible and bump stop clearance the rest.

Next step is get out the trim saw... I'm prepared to build custom fiberglass bolt on flares if it comes to that. Heck, I might even make molds. It will be a time consuming PITA, but if that is what it takes.... I'm willing to put it under the knife.

But first step is to watch you suckers go :first:

Glassworks said they had something in the works and to check end of summer....well I am still waiting.

I probably will do a trim ala marshal, but a crappy version. Then once a fender gets released go that way.
