Bimrunner Build Thread & Pics

Thanks! Good info! I am not sure I will add bypasses... probably wait and see how much mo-betta your setup is! Lol. If not, I definitely will be adding the adjusters at the first rebuild (if I can wait that long...). I know it is going to be a little process of fine-tuning the suspension.

Bingo. We'll find out next month.

But yeah you're not supposed to add adjusters + bypasses, you get into this weird situation where they'll fight eachother. And the bypasses are basically the dampeners anyways.

I'm hoping my kings ship soon.

Took a very last minute run up to Signal Peak yesterday with a buddy and his JK just to at least try out the new suspension setup a tiny bit. The trail, although rated difficult, is pretty darn easy so not much of a test, but it has some nice rocky portions, some tight switchbacks and one slightly challenging spot. It is also a great place to go for a nice picnic and views. Plus the way down is all a nice dirt committee road (Fordyce committee access road) for some fun fast driving with whoops, power-slide turns and such. The new suspension is a world of improvement over the last setup I ran. So smooth and buttery. The JK had trouble keeping up with me because I think I got carried away testing... I also got to jump the JK once, change a tire due to a torn sidewall... I'll be sticking to the 4Runner...

A couple pics because we all know its about the pics.

Seeing as how our rigs are very similar in terms of weight and tire size, do you recommend the 4.56? or do you think the 4.88's were a better choice?

I'd like to keep the thing as well geared for daily driving and highway use but don't want to regret the decision once i get them in.

thanks

I've only had the 4.56 and they feel perfect. Once I need new tires I'll be up-sizing to 315 but I doubt I'll feel a huge difference. One thing the 4.88 makes me slightly concerned is the size of our diffs with the 4.88. I can't help wondering if the teeth on the gears are not getting a little thin in there. 4.88 probably need a min of 315s to feel properly balanced. I get pretty good mileage considering all the crap I run. We drove to Yellowstone and back averaging 17-18 mpg the whole time. In mixed and town I get 14 or 15 consistently. It feels peppy enough and when I punch it, she does well! Also, mountains fully loaded aren't a problem. I have no plans to go to 4.88 at this time. If I ever hack this to pieces I'll probably reassess. lol.

The raptor is going to go full on racing. I think 9000 class or something. It is pretty sick. I'd be lying if I didn't say I wish it was mine! Lol. No biggie. Just was curious about what a "before" flex would look like. You going to do LT rear?

More then likely I will go LT rear. I always think about the up travel I will loose in doing so. Might miss that couple inches out in the desert.

I have 4.56 and just threw on 315s this morning. It feels fine.

When you get some tanks run through down the road I'd be curious on the MPG.

-A

It's around 13-14. Was higher when I ran the 33s.

Getting ready for the next mod. Big thanks to Okki and rigtec

Hi Ben,

make sure you test fit the positive lug over the alternator post BEFORE you mount it. You will have to increase the hole size, and easier to test fit before its deep into the engine bay. :music:

Okki

Hey Paul,

Has that been your experience with the installation of the 270-XP; I'm quite surprised because mine required NO mod! ...glad you posted that!
