Bimrunner Build Thread & Pics

Hey bimrunner, I'm curious how those metal tech long travel coils hold up to the weight of your truck when fully loaded with gear? Do you loose a lot of ride height when fully loaded? I know you mentioned it before somewhere in the past but can you restate any hesitations you have towards putting in hydraulic bumpstops?

I'm working with Dobinsons to get some custom heavy progressive coils made and may drop my bumpstops to get more extended down travel but hate bottoming out so I'm entertaining the idea of installing some hydro bump stops. Just curious what your thoughts are regarding bottoming out when fully loaded. Thanks a bunch.

I come down to about level when packed to the gills and the rrt on top. I want hydraulic bumps. I just have diverted funds to the k10 project... go for the can bumps! Would be far superior to the dropped stock bumps which are much harsher. The cans would be sooooo much better.

Awesome, thanks a bunch.. may have to look into those cam bumps

Hey man I have another question if you've got a minute. Are you running high angle cv boots, or performed a "boot slide" mod? My fins are contacting and I'd like to avoid a boot tear if possible. If I recall you had a boot tear already but it was pages ago in your build thread. Thanks, owe you a beer!

I'd also like to know this as well when you have a chance bimrunner.

I was just eyeballing your rig over at CaliFab this morning, it looks great!

Excited to see your rig after those new parts go on :thumb3:

35s eh... nice. I got my LT kit starring at me, but waiting on the coil overs.. Need to order those CV boots. Are the outers come from CVJ also. I remember you said that is where the inner ones came from.

Yep! CVJ is where I got mine. I have a spare set too.

What do you do if you find out you managed to crack some FN wheels because you actually do go offroad? You make sure it doesn't happen again. These got added to the list of things getting done this week. Silver to be different than the black.

And this got thrown on too while in for some stuffs being done...

Take the hideous logo off the center cap, amazing how 450 dollar rims come with a shitty sticker that looks like it was designed by someone's 8 year old.

I've done a lot of off-roading with my FN wheels and have not had a problem yet, and they are torn up a bit from a few direct hits... but nothing like on my trail rig LOL..

Are you sure you cracked them? You made it sound like it happened to more than one.

How much do those rock monsters weigh?

I just put my snorkel on last night... It's huge.. and fugly.. but whatever... no going back now. Maybe it will grow on me... My wife's question. Why did you do that to your truck... I had no great answer except to avoid dust.

Those are going to come off for sure. No stickers on wheels. That is just not ok.

Yeah they're garbage. I spent about 45 minutes pulling them off when I was in Walt's shop. Hutchinson's actual logo is kinda cool, but the Rock Monster logo is hammered dog shit.

Like 52lbs. I think my wheels are like 125lbs each, which makes putting the one on the spare tire carrier..."fun"

A lot. I found online they are 58lbs as hutchinson doesn't give that spec. Wrapped in 75lb wheels, I'm sure they will be beasts.

Only 1 of the FN Wheels but I am a bit abusive so thought I'd copy LawnDart... I'm not positive but may have finished off the crack when the new tires were being mounted. I don't think I would have missed seeing that. I do look at my truck.

52 is what ours weighed on the scale. I think it's 58lbs for the shipping weight.

I just ordered 2 more to have on the trailer. Because **** my miles per gallon!

You actually can use the plural of mile? Lol. I don't even think about what mine is.
