Bimrunner Build Thread & Pics

We are all just thanking God it turned out the way it did and nobody was hurt.
Wow! Thanks for sharing your pictures and video. It takes a humble person to admit to a mistake and share it with everyone. I think I heard your son praying for you as you were winching. It's not the first time prayers have been said on that trail! I took my wife to snake lake on our honeymoon in our stock 86 4runner on 33's. Bad idea! We almost didn't make it out. She was not happy with me! 12 years later that trail is much easier thanks to a sas and 37's.

Were you on the ridge above the lake when you went off? If I remember correctly it's a steep grade for 1/2 mi or so to the lake. Glad to know everyone's ok.

Nope. We were done with all the snake lake trail and had decided to head out through gold valley instead of going back through the campground. There were so many intersections out there that weren't on our maps so I was checking locations on gaia gps... it was on a super mild moderate section in who-knows-where out near FSR 93. It was distracted driving that led to this, not the severity of the trail. My hope is that my mistake can help remind others what can happen and that we all drive out there safely.

Man, Glad it turned out OK. I've done similar things when I let my guard down and get disracted... Worst problems have been when I'm relaxed and not paying attention... usually fooling wih the radio or something dumb.

Truck looking great BTW>

Anyway, here is a guy who was not as lucky (although he was still lucky in the end). People often forget how dangerous this activity can be. Obviously best to never wheel alone... but can't say that I never have. Just have to be careful and realize the difference between a safe decent and a disaster is often inches.

Be careful out there everyone.

Thinking of letting the 4Runner go. I'm not going to need as many trucks once my k10 project is done (few months). I'd love someone who loves these rigs to get mine. Probably going to be listing it for about $30k in a couple months. PM me if you are interested or potentially interested. Been an amazing rig but trying to be realistic since I have 5 vehicles at the moment. I wish I could keep them all but I probably have to add another pickup for my second son (does lots of agg and livestock so 4Runner isn't practical). Lemme know before a few months goes by since once I put on Instagram and Craiglist I'm betting it won't be too hard to sell. 67,000ish miles. This has been trail tested. lol

One of the hardest working trucks on the 5th gen forums buddy...sure will miss your adventures...

Resize your pictures on the way out the door. :drum:

Seriously, hope you stick around no matter which direction you go. One of the good guys for sure. Truck doesn’t suck either. :clap2:

Damn, one less Guinea pig. Thanks for all the info Ben! Guess you been working on the K10 cause you haven't posted in awhile. Gonna miss the thread bro.

I bet it goes quick, ball park trade in was 22,500 -24,500 in my area which means the actual dealer selling price/private party is closer to 25ish - for 30k someone is getting a heck of a lot of parts for 5k. While I doubts its his intent or desire, if we were not on the opposite sides of the country it would likely be worth grabbing, doing some parts swapping to match needs/wants (or spares ha-ha) and then re-selling closer to stock......snorkel would be problematic :)

The wheels, 3rds w/ 4.56s and lockers, and LT are well over 5k. The armor/rack would be icing on the cake not to mention all the rest.

Maybe offer 28.5 and see if he bites :bowl:

I don't want to tell how much I have in parts. I've seen rigs with less mods trying to sell for more than a new TRD Pro. I am a realist and know that is not likely. I don't think it is an ideal parts rig. If I hadn't gone down the rabbit hole with the k10, 10k more and this would be complete with all the dream mods: add supercharger, anti-sway swaybars, can bumps and new front fenders and go anywhere do anything as long as you have access to premium fuel. lol.

My guess at total mods value: $30k

I also know a wheeled rig that is modified does not trade in at the same value as stock and only mall-crawled.

Understand, and I think you are very realistic in your expectations - Not sure how your panels/interior look - but my guess is yours like most who's trucks get used have pin strips , dents, scratches, underside is dirty, skids are beat on etc. etc. Certainly with some elbow grease a lot of that can be corrected but there is no taking these trucks back to OEM condition without enough cash to just go buy one already in great shape.

But somewhere someone who plans to use it and wants/likes most of the mods will see it as a steal.

Photos of the K10?

follow my instagram and I'll post pics probably in a couple months. Right now it is in pieces... litterally with the body at the body shop, engine and drivetrain at the diesel builders and waiting for the current "big build" at the fab shop to be done, then it is wild game time. _bimrunner_ is my name on insta. I'll prob post one here once it is complete and interesting to look at.

Thanks for the explanation. I don't know what any of that stuff means.

Damn, didn't even get to go wheeling with ya. Bummer, but sounds like a lot of money pits and and vehicles too. :becky:
