Black LED Halo Projector Head Lights

Hey everybody,

First let me start by apologizing ahead of time if this item has been brought up before. I did a quick search and saw nothing, but that doesn't always mean anything.

I'm wondering if anybody has, or knows much about the following headlight assemblies on amazon:

My headlights are fogging to the point where they need to be polished at least every other week, so it's definitely time for some new ones. I was looking at OEM, and also at these. I really like the look of these projector head lights, and it is definitely supposed to fit in my 2005 4runner limited. So I guess my question is simply has anybody tried these and is there anything I should know about them regarding quality or install? Or if there is a thread about it already, I would greatly appreciate a redirect.

if you look at his build thread, he has pictures of those headlight.

I'm also looking into replacing my headlights, my originals are done, waaaaaay foggy and yellowish. I was looking into getting these with HIDs from Diode Dynamics folks, but I'm not sure yet. I'm debating between those HALO ones or the regular black ones like this:

A lot of time, those HALOs are either very weak or they tend to go bad quickly.

RUNNING THEM FOR ABOUT 6 months now...bought from spec d tumimg...installed hid bulbs n ballast...looks pretty decent!......wired the halos to my park lights...didnt hook up the 3 small leds........made it too ricey......

ask me anything you want on the setup
 
Rnote: the halos are weak......not as bright as the lightwurkz angeleyes halos...almost invisible in sunlight......:iagree:

This is what I was afraid of. The only HALOs I've owned and have been bright as hell (almost good to drive) were made by Spyder, they use CCFL HALOs with their headlights but unfortunately they don't make a pair for 4Runners.

Hi there, thank you very much for the info. Since you installed the HID bulbs, did you have to adjust the head lights at all, or was it mostly plug and play? Also, what about the 3 leds made it too 'ricey'? Is there anything special I would need to do in order to hook them up if I wanted?

THE CUTOFF ISNT VERY SHARP, though its a lil worse ON my passenger side headlight, have thought of trying to adjust it, but never got around to........the 3 leds looking ricey..its just a personal feeling, my buddy hooked his up......i hooked mine up initially, didnt like the look, had to disconnect them... to disconnect is simple..just disconnect the cable powering them from the power source

on a scale of 10, i did rate the assy 7.5, good for those folks that dont hv the time/skills to open up their headlights for a proper retrofit....
i still have my lightwurkz halos lying around, i hope one good day to open up the hl assy , remove the preinstalled halos and stick the lightwurkz halos in

if you wish to use hids in them, i would advice you to buy from spec d,(about $220 for everything) since they preinstall the hid bulbs before shipping, the one on amazon, you have to do a little cutting of the plastic cover at the rear, check my previous posts, i posted pics of what i did. zopperman gave me helpful tips them, i believe he is among the first people to install the assy

Thanks Ryan! Yea! I almost deleted the halos, I think they are a little out of proportion, almost too small, I would love to see the rings diameter a little larger.

With that said, I think it looks 10X better, it makes the truck young again.:banana:
 
Well, what do you know? I just realized the passenger side is all jacked up. In order for me to achieve the aim on the road the projector's position is no way near the center, it's way out there in the far north/west relative to the socket that the project is housed. It looks hideous. I have tried to walk it again many time but to no avail.

It's a shame I have to return it for refund.
 
yeah, my passenger side isnt so good either...the cutoff is worse than the drivers side........living with it though!
