Black Magic Build Thread

Hood and grille have been painted and put on. Bought both through certifit, and the scoop insert direct from toyota.

Looks great man! I wish I could get one for mine.... looking at $1000.00 to do mine.... and I had to source the parts! :(

This rig has morphed into BADASSAWESOMENESS!!! Looks great man!! Have you got the rear bumper on yet??

Thanks guys!

No rear bumper yet. It is on the list. Hopefully soon. That will be the last piece of chrome! (besides the rear emblems)

Looks badass. You paint the hood yourself or have someone else do it? What it cost you?

Look forward to you ditching that chrome rear bumper :D

Thanks man! I had a guy I use to work with paint them for me. He charged me $140 out the door. Maaco quoted me just over $200, and I'm confident that the guy I use to work with did just as good, if not a better job than they would have.

Looking great, Jeff. I'd say the new canvas was worth it =p.

Am I crazy, or is there some condensation in the headlights? They look kinda foggy in the snow wheeling picture, and the last one with the hood. Maybe I've lost it.

You know I noticed that in the last snow picture too, and now that you mention it, it kind of looks like it in that last picture outside too. I think it is just dirt/slush on the outside in the snow picture, and sun glare in the outside picture. At least that's what I'm going to tell myself. I'll take a closer look later tonight. I really hope there isn't.

I love the look!
I wish certifit would ship... Those hood pricing you guys can get from them is ridiculous cheap!!

They look pretty dry on the inside. I think it was just stuff on the outside in both those pics.

Today I did a test fitment for the rear bumper. There is a lot of rust on the bumper. I was going to just grind it off and re-paint it, but I think it'll be worth it to get it sand blasted and powder-coated.

Taking the stock bumper off...

Big thanks to Gerdo for lending a hand this weekend. We got my panhard drop bracket all welded up. He happened to still have the cardboard template that he used to cut out the cross brase gusset for the bracket so that was really helpful!

Also extended the rear sway bar endlinks by putting some front sway bar endlinks on the rear sway bar. That was a tongue twister.

I got a lot more to do in the next 2 weeks before my Moab trip! I'll be updating with more stuff soon.

Nice job man, i havent been on in forever and i missed out on the beginning of this build but seems to be coming along amazingly well!
