Black Magic Build Thread

Yep made great progress today! Got the mounts all tacked together along with the winch plate, and made just about all the cuts on the rectangular tube. I'll try to get pics up in the next day or two.

Here is a teaser.

As for the wait list... From talking with Jed, it sounds like it's pretty much a one man show. He said he has been doing a lot of full vehicle builds lately. He's had people for all over dropping off their rig and he'll fabricate everything from bumpers, to sliders, skid plates, roof rack, everything. Most of the vehicles he's been doing are the FJs and 2nd Gen Tacos. Sounds like he likes to just take on one project at a time and some of them have been taking months to do.

I was down at Jed's on Saturday. He is a one man show right now. He had 2 3rd gen's, a 4th Gen, and a Grand Cherokee in the shop and is building bumpers for all except for the 4th gen. I also think he is cutting metal for another 3rd gen bumper, so it will be ready when he can get it in. Shop is pretty tight with all of that and the water jet.
One of the 3rd gens had been in there since October, but the guy as going all out. Front and rear bumpers, suspension, and other sh!t.

By the way, your truck is BAD A$$!

damn, how thick is that steel? lol

Looking really good man! Love how its "up high" for a better approach angle, and how the winch seat is high up and back towards the grille as well.

1/4". I want it real strong. Lol and yeah I've always loved the approach angle the armorology bumper offers. I'm getting really excited as it's coming together.
 
Wow! That bumper is looking great! Awesome idea using tube instead of a lot of plate. I've always been a fan of armorology's bumpers (and now addicted's plate) and plan to build something similar when the time comes for mine. Cant wait to see yours finished

Maybe? Hahaha. A guy from Hawaii made me download it one time. Was that you? I downloaded the app once but never got into it. So if there are pictures posted, it's not mine. I've never posted anything via insta gram.

Thanks dtc81! Yeah I'm really liking the new Addicted Offroad plate bumper. If he was offering it before I start designing mine I might have gone with that. Still haven't seen one in person, but I know Scotty makes great stuff and I really like the look.

hah! yeah prolly me lol
 
Been a couple weeks now. Got the whole bumper welded together. I'm working on grinding and cleaning up all the welds now. Also relocated the blinkers to the corner lights. I just used a new 194 socket and cut a hole above the parking light hole, then siliconed it so it's water tight. I'm hoping to get the tube bent for the stinger tomorrow. Then I'll weld those and the d-ring mounts on, wrap up all the finishing, then it's off to powder coat!

Bootyful. Any reason why your designed it so that the corners going towards the fenders are angled downwards and then flat instead of just flat across or angled up towards the fender flare?
