Blacking Out the Tail Lights?

What are your thoughts on blacking out tail lights? I personally love the look on certain makes (T4R being one).

I've been told that they can cause extra attention from the cops which I something I definitely do not since my truck has a certain... smell to it...

Has anyone here black out their tail lights or thought about blacking them out? I have a buddy who said he could help me do it for $50. Nothing too dark but enough to notice a difference.

You can do it yourself with VHT Niteshade. Just do a bunch of LIGHT coats.

I wouldn't do it though. It's just asking for trouble.

Personally, i think they look ugly. That's just me. Now if you buy the ones from burtman's industries or ebay, they prolly look cool.

I think they look good...specially way better than the 03-05 stock tails.

No problems with cops so far...and they been riding behind my a** several times. lol...

I did it myself ....it is very easy...you dont need to pay $50 for something that easy and not really time consuming.

yeah no need to pay $50, a can of VHT is like $7.99 or something like that.

IMHO i think it looks pretty good. I haven't had any problems with the cops, and I don't even have my front license plate on. (I prefer the look, but have it in the car with me just in case)

Forgot to mention that mines are painted with VHT Niteshade and it took me less than an hour to prep and paint them. Piece of cake!

On the pictures posted above, why didn't you also black out the bumper reflectors.

I don't like the black out usually, but if the reflectors were included I feel it would look more cohesive. Is there a legal reason?

No legal reason ...I am doing it and also the third brakelight. That day I had things to do and decided to do the rest later the weekend after. That was about 2 months ago. I just havent had the time to do it...or 2 lazy I guess...

This is Off topic ...but:

Ok..

Those are codes...codes that only people from Panama or familiar with that country will recognize.
It's a very popular saying between panamanians thats been going on for years!!!!. If you ever hear someone saying : "PTY507" or PTY or 507 ? ...you will know that person is from Panama.
PTY stands for the International country code and 507 The international phone code.

I am still a little on the fence with my decision but I know that if I do decide to get them blacked out I will be doing it myself. I was thinking about doing some kind of design on them too. Maybe the Toyota symbol or something.

Paint most likely. My buddy has some supplies left over from when he did his. So all I really need to buy is the paint itself.

lights

tried to take them off yesterday, and theres apparently 2 bolts ya gotta get off to be done, one very easy, right in front of you. The other however is very high up and i was unable to unbolt it... any advice???
