Nice knowing you too, man. We should definitely go out wheeling sometime. I'm really glad to see at least one 3rd Gen 4runner show up on that trip.

As soon as we open up shop! Haha! Maybe so some Diesel engine swaps while he makes the bumpers, or try my hand at putting one of the 600bhp twin turbo Diesel engines in from the ship I work on! hahaha

After receiving an anonymous bullshit mailed-in letter of complaint from a "concerned neighbor" who couldn't muster up the courage to come and tell me his/her objection in person, I started soliciting each and every one of my coward neighbors houses just to let them know what the hell was up! Ofcourse nobody ever 'fessed up..Coward fuks! I know my rights!

Since no one wanted to admit...I happily went back and finished the rear bumper.

Just wanted to put my welding practices to use before I completely become rusty..:naughty:

:bluejump: thanks....I have so little experience with TIG but i'm slowly getting the hang of it. Generally, all my work on the 4runner has been done with a MIG.

The Hobart i got has been a delight to use, doesn't require an expert to lay a good weld with it.....but practice certainly helps.

Nice well I was wondering but I can definitely see what you mean with the Hobart. One o my prettiest welds was with a Hobart. Definitely the machine I am wanting to pick up.

Thanks for the interest Rod.. something of this magnitude to build takes a lot of time and although I already have the prototypes to copy off of, it's still time consuming doing it alone. I like doing things right without cutting corners, not by any means perfect but down to the last detail kinda thing.. Detail takes time, and in that regard, I don't think i'm gonna turn a good labor-profit in the end.

Besides, you'd be on a waiting list, if I ever do decide to make one for my brother in Cali who's already in line as of yesterday .:becky:

Hey man I was pretty sure I already knew the answer, but I had to try. I am really amazed at what you can do. I love doing this stuff too but I am not as motivated as you and possibly my kids take up alot of my free time. Keep up the great work so I can be inspired to do more.

Words can't describe how amazed I am. As someone who doesn't even have a T4R yet (but wants to get one by next Spring) and is waiting for the 'right' one to go up for sale…

… I can definitely say that yours will be a HUGE inspiration for any future mods I have. Doing Vancouver proud brah. That build is insane.

You're welcome! You've got a million good ideas of your own, so I'm glad I could contribute one to your build. I only had time for a quick comment last time, but I've since taken a few minutes to check out the pics of your bumper build. You never disappoint, Ervin. That's a nice piece of work you put together... high clearance, great lines, and the small touches like the rounded top edge really set it apart.

Like I've said before... anytime you're gone for too long I know you'll be back with something good.

PS, we may have the same welder, but you've gotten much better at using yours than I have mine. Those welds are looking mighty fine!

What kind of tools are you using to make your bumpers and skids? Did you cut round tubing to get the rounded edge pieces? I really like the idea of building your own bumpers/armor, but not sure what a good place to start tool wise would be.
