Just you let me enjoy them for a brief while first....man, them tires still got nibs on em for crying out loud...........then we'll talk! Ha Ha Ha!!!!!

But thanks for the approval, at first I was leary about black wheels but, it's worked out well to say the least..

the new combo is awesome. The pic with the nittos right next to the BFG was nice comparison shot. personally if it was up to me..i'd take the nittos and slap them on the old set and see how it turns out. All in all the new combo is awesome. but the old rims were the best. The spare now looks 100x better. Any thoughts for a solid bumper up front in the future?

Only the old set were 17' rims and the nitto tires are meant for 16" rims...I did my best looking for another one of those since I got 'em but nothing ever surfaced..I do love them no doubt..they will still find they're place back on the truck from time to time, though. Heck, I may even let you have first dibs on them if I decide to sell...haha!

The plate bumper does cross my mind infact. oooohh some time for sure.

Wow... what a big difference a set of wheels and tires can make. That totally changed the overall look of your truck. Personally, I was a big fan of your old combo, the chrome was definitely on the less common side of things and I thought it accented your rig nicely. It sounds like the primary reason for the change was so that you could get a matching spare, correct?

I like the new wheels A LOT. Classy design, nice offset.

I'm not a big fan of the tires, no offense, but they seem a little gaudy.

Overall, I'd give the new setup :bigok:.

Oh! Hey man no offence taken at all, I appreciate an honest comment/criticism..really.

It really came down to two choices for me as far as tire buying decision, I wanted the original design MTR's but they were paced out, they show much less compared to the Nittos but on the same note, I couldn't pass up the deal handed to me on these tires, I had to take them. No regrets whatsoever though on the mud grapplers.

Those old set of rims were actually polished aluminum that used to be finished in chrome, they were starting to be a nuisance cleaning now, dust, road grime, mud and such just happily sticks to the surface which takes time to get rid of. Nevertheless they were an awesome set that made my truck as you guys knew it, I just gotta refinish em. On the contrary the new wheels are a breeze to clean, I spend less time on them after off roading and that's a big bonus..

For what it's worth, the new rims simpler design takes away some of the mud grapplers ultra aggressive look IMO...he he!:boink:

Yes the reason for the change was so I could have a set with spare to match.........again thanks!

Haha you noticed that huh? I'm not too concerned about that, however for $30 a pair for the front bumper end piece painted black, heck that's a deal.

Are you affiliated with the seller? I want to know if they are from a 96-98 Ltd or from a 99-02..I know there's a slight difference between the two.

i am not affiliated with the seller. i just noticed u didnt have them in the pics and remembered seeing those listed while browsing craigslist last night.
 
After reading this build thread.. I am convinced that I should take up a drug habit instead of owning a T4R.. It'll be cheaper.

Sick build. That Hilux hatch has me thrashing in my sleep.
 
Ok, ok....I actually like them. Alot. Based on that one picture in the other thread I didn't think I did, but now seeing a bunch of pictures, I realized I was wrong to be sad. I'm now happy that the coolest 4runner is even cooler. Awesome job, like Ripcord said, you just made your rig even better.
 
I really like the look of those black wheels. I still prefer BFG ATs to the mud tires because I think that mud tires look very worn out as early as 50% tread life.

I really like the black on black as I said before. But I think it would look better if your front/rear bumper was not "paint matched" and was instead semi-gloss black, like the color of those wheels or an ARB bumper.

So I guess if you ever decide to paint the bumper again, I suggestion you try and match to the wheels. This will be kind of a 2 tone black look.

Hey man I'm just glad I won you back over. I'm assuming you just didn't realize that I updated my build and with those wheels and tires being the latest.

Where have you been anyway? :D

Goin for the black theme was a big time decision, it's either a hit or a miss on the overall appearance of the 4runner and I must admit I took a gamble on that part, but come to think of it, those black wheels do bring a more tougher appeal to the truck not to mention how much wider it now stands because of the 305's.

I'll keep that advise on the 2-tone black motif in mind though, and thanks man!

How that 4:88 gear with 33'' tire can u get aleast 17-18 mpg in city and how about highway mpg, cuz I'm debating about 4:88 gear.

I can't say for sure but regearing to 4.88's help tremendously in achieving back those supposedly lost MPG's when I went to 33's. My truck wasn't really doing bad on fuel consumption back with the stock 4.30's, and now with the 4.88's I really can't complain.

I can only imagine highway driving is much much more efficient without all that stop & go plus I don't use the 4runner as my DD so the gas prices don't bother me. ha ha!

Beautiful truck. I love those Level 8 wheels. Scotty@Addicted introduced me to them and I am in love. One day I will buy a set of the polished ones. Unless you want to sell me your old wheels, that is. I will honestly drive to BC, just give me a weeks notice.
