Man I love California weather, the whole week I was there it was beautiful and sunny all the way. Even our trip from BC to Washington, Oregon all the way to California was blessed with a clear and fair weather. We drove and visited our brother and his family from Brentwood bringing along some Hilux Surf goodies, much like the one I have.
We were busy that whole week from having the actual Hilux Surf tailgate painted, taking my brothers truck to the welding shop for the carriers re-inforcement, doing the bodylift, some back-up light wiring. Eric(T4r4life) came just in time to help bring the bumper back up due to the BL. Had a few beers, pizza and good old chat.
My brothers version with the Hi-lift jack mounted. His spare tire needed to be moved much further towards the center to accommodate some room for the Hi-lift.....The idea was his own, and a neat one too IMO.
As you can tell I have also replaced my clear tails with the aftermarket OEM ones from Ebay. Before taking on the California trip, I did a fair bit of maintenance to the truck, including a new front 02 sensor, ignition wire set, engine and tranny oil change. Even replaced the front suspension setup to Toytec coilovers. I didn't realize how much the ARB sagged the 881's I had 'til I installed the coilovers.
Even after subjecting the truck from the grueling 15 hour one way trip to Cali, to the Hollister Hills trip and back, I still gained a full inch over the previous setup.......These and the LC's made the ride, performance and stance 1000 times better.
When I met Eric(t4r4life) at Diablo Performance and saw his 1st Gen roll bar in the back of his truck, I said I had to have one of those. I was super jelly of his cargo set up. Literally the day after I came back to Vancouver, I found and bought one for $40, did some cutting and welding and there it was...Mine even came with the padding which I'm very happy about.
Some flat head bolt and a strip of aluminum/metal to reinforce the thinner gauge fender wells. I like to be overkill sometimes..lol! Driver side rear fender well shown.
