Block heater installation

deepfreeze

New member
I purchased a 2003 4runner from Southwestern Ontario this past summer and had it transported to Saskatchewan. Unfortunately it didn't come with a block heater installed and out here they are an absolute must for those really, really cold days.

Does anyone know if they can be installed without too much difficulty or does it need to be put in by a dealer? Does anyone have any experience at this?

The block heater is only $27 and installation is an additional $125 so I'd like to do it myself and use that money for a remote start for those cold winter mornings.

Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Thanks. :)

Finally had a look...

I ordered the block heater as a stealer installed option at the time I purchased. Not sure how mechanical you are but it looks to be in a hard to reach location at the rear drivers side of the engine block, inboard of the top oxygen sensor (on my V6). Sorry no pics. Good luck!
