blower motor/ air volume problem

I did do a search and couldn't find anything. My blower seems to work ok on all speeds but there is not a lot of air blowing out of the vents when I move it to that setting. There is not much difference in the volume of air between the 4 and 5 speeds. Definitely not a lot of air blowing out. I changed the cabin air filter, which was super dirty with leaved and other debris sitting on top of it. Do you think it could be a blend door or does the fan itself need cleaning ? I know one of you 4Runner experts will know what the problem is. By the way, it's a 2004 Sport 4WD V8.

On my 2004 there's a considerable difference from "High" and the next lower speed, at least twice as much air or more on high, I'm guessing it's the speed control switch and or something wrong with the circut board.

Can you hear the fan speed increase(?), if not then my guess above would be where I would start to try and solve the issue, if you hear the fan speed increase then the blend doors may very well be the issue.

if the filter was dirty and had leaves in it then odds are high thew blower wheel has leaves in it as well, that would be best to drop it and see

I would suspect a tired old motor, especially if it had to deal with a long-neglected cabin filter.

Yes, I will pull it down tomorrow and see how much junk is in it. If I get a chance, I will post a pic of the cabin air filter.

I didn't get a chance to pull the motor down, but I did find the picture of the filthy filter. Alliteration at its finest. Take a look.
Probably never was changed.
