Blower Motor Making Noise

My blower motor has been making noise for most of the winter. Decided to finally get in there and check it out. Think I may have found the issue. Literally a blanket of moss in there. Crazy considering I just cleaned it a few years ago.

There are actually two (2) exterior air/fresh air intake grills available on our rigs. One is called a "winter version" and has what looks like screen on the underside of the fresh air intake at the bottom of the windshield. The other is more of a "summer" version and does not have the screen. Of course, the screen material keeps larges chuncks of crap from falling through and eventually getting into the fan unit. In your case, it looks like you are parking under trees or where there is loose debris and it also appears you do not have the screen (winter version) under your fresh air intake grill at the bottom of the windshield.....am I right?

Wow. Now I feel like a big a$$......those are just some pretty large chunks of moss in that fan unit.....maybe they "fed off themselves" and grew in the fan unit....no clue really.......

No idea. I'm dumfounded. I've lived in the same spot for a while and when I opened up the fan a few years ago, it was the first time I had done so (and assume the first time it had ever been done) and it was pretty clean.

I sent a pic to my friend who's a moss expert to see if it's a type that can grow in an environment like that.

Mine is making noise too. Hopefully I don't have a moss blanket in mine too!
Does it push a lot more air now?!

Just cleaned mine recently. First time in 20 years. The rat cage was clean, but had a bunch of debris clogging the a/c fins. My buddies were dumbfounded that these old Runners don’t have cabin filters to prevent this.

I would have thought the noise of the SC would have drowned out the blower motor.

I have to clean mine every two years, pollen from trees and crap. I blow out the drain holes for the sunroof at the same time.

Now I’m concerned about mine. Picked mine up a few months ago and am new to T4R’s.

Any write ups on how to clean the AC screens etc?

Naw. My SC is only noticeable at WOT. :naughty:

Not sure about the AC screens. Going to take a look. But the blower fan is under the glovebox. Held in by 3 screws. Helps to remove the lower kick plate to get access to the rear screw.
