Blower motor squeaking?

Last week, with the heater on high, there was a horrible squeaking noise. It sounds like it might be the blower motor hitting something. When I turned down the fan, it eventually went away, but would come back occasionally. I am in Chicago and it is butt-chilly up here right now. I read about the Blower Motor Ice Build-up and was wondering if that is the problem. It kept blowing with force, but made a horrible noise. Since the inside of the car was warm, I can't imagine that it is ice build-up because the ice would have melted. It hasn't been doing it this week, eventhough it is actually colder this week.

Anyone have this happen to them?

My 2003 4Runner has 105k miles on it, so it is out of warranty. Can I still get this fixed at the dealer or maybe get the parts to do it myself? I am assuming the blower motor is not cheap. Thanks.

My fan just doesnt work when it's cold. Dealer can't figure it out either. Do you want the TSB on how to fix the icing problem?

New blower motor costs $230 and is easy to replace.
