Hi all-
I'm new here and looking for some advice on what to do with my '99 4Runner SR5 3.4L. The "check engine" light has been on for some time now. I had it looked at and it was an evap code, but they just turned off the light and it has since come back on again.
Several weeks ago, my EFI fuse blew while I was creeping forward at a stop light. I had it taken to a shop, where they replaced the fuse and sent me on my way, indicating that it would probably happen again, but they would diagnose the problem then. Well, it happened again (also while creeping forward at a stoplight), but I since discovered how to replace the fuse on my own, and was able to start it up again.
Well, the other day, I was pulling into a parking spot and it blew again. But this time, when I replaced the fuse, it wouldn't start. It will crank, but nothing more.
I did some research, and had a friend help me check that the wire harness wasn't touching the exhaust at all, and that my O2 sensors were in good working order, and it all checked out.
He seems to think I have a bad fuel pump?? But after more research, and knowing about the evap code, I'm wondering if has to do with a dirty/clogged vapor canister?
Any and all advice is appreciated!!
