We just bought an 05 for my wife to drive two months ago and I noticed some mild coolant consumption. Two weeks ago I did an oil change and everything looked ok. Today I noticed that the coolant reservoir was empty and when I opened the oil cap I saw milkshake. Not the dim brown layer of gunk everyone gets, but light, fluffy milkshake in the oil cap.
I'm about 80% sure this is a blown HG, and I'll confirm it soon, but assuming my diagnosis is correct...
What do I do? I'm capable of doing the work, should I go ahead and DIY the replacement? Is it going to be more sensible to just get a new motor? Are there any special tools necessary for the job? Anything I should replace while I'm in there? The car has 165k so is there anything else that needs done?
