Blue Devil Head Gasket Sealer

(knock on wood) everything is still working great at 198k miles

Hey everyone, just a quick update on the 4th gen:
I decided to get a newer car and my younger brother received the 4th gen. It currently has 198k miles on it and hasn't missed a beat so far. I got to drive it the other day for the first time since giving it away and it still feels great. I have done 2 synthetic oil changes on it since the leak. The first had a slight amount of milkshake (coolant & oil mix) when I drained the oil that was from before the head gasket was fixed with blue devil. The second oil change was done before winter and the oil looked great! fingers crossed that it works forever! :wink2:

Thanks for the update. It sounds like it's worth trying. Even if it causes any issues, you can clean it all out when ripping apart the engine for a HG replacement right?

It took me a while to confirm that had a blown HG.. and it was a sinking feeling to have it diagnosed. But after doing lots of research I found Blue Devil, decided to try it, and it worked! 6 months in and it's still doing great!

I watch your videos a lot. What month was your 4r built?

I have a 2006 sr5 4wd. Original owner. 240k miles. Never overheated. Started noticing my coolant levels in reservoir going way down. Car sputtered at 65mph at 1500-2k rpm and idled rough. I tested the radiator for exhaust with the harbor freight test kit and sure enough I had bubbles and exhaust in my radiator( blown head gasket). I watched this video on YouTube. Followed exactly what he did and my runner is in tiptop shape. Runs better than ever. God know how long it’s been leaking.

HDHP

Hey all, I recently bought a 2008 UrbanRunner & am getting back into the site! So I just wanted to give another update on my brother's 2005. The beast is currently sitting at 230,048 & running great! It still has prestone green coolant in it & I have maybe added a cup or two to top off over the past two years. I still change the oil on it about every 6k miles, & surprisingly no milkshake so far.

For anyone considering Blue Devil, I can definitely and confidently say it works if used correctly. We are going on 4 years since I've added the sealer.

Anyways, thanks for reading! I wish all of you and your 4Runners the best! :)

A little unfortunate, but I joined the head gasket club during the recent heat here in TX. Coolant levels were dropping a few oz a day after staying pretty constant the past 6mo or so.

I gave the blue devil a shot since signs pointed towards a small leak that had only recently opened up, and early testing looks good. I drove about 20mi the other day in 102 degree heat and had zero change in coolant levels when I took a look the next morning. Coolant temps also seem to have dropped about 10 degrees, even with the AC on.
