Blue wire mod question

I just discovered this mod so let me ask you this. Any side effects or reasons NOT to do the grey wire mod (bypass the 4lo requirement for locker)?

Basically you just don’t want your locker on when you are on the road. It will wear out your tires and chirp your tires around all the turns. Mostly, it’s not really safe to keep a locker on at higher speeds on pavement. Your handling will change and your chances of spinning out are increased. The factory put it in 4lo only as a safety feature so that people aren’t just driving around with a locker on.

Evidently Tapatalk doesn't wasn't to notify me when there are replies on here, sorry about the delay...
The Blue wire
w/ red stripe comes from the black box by the driver's side kick panel. You want the ground the side that comes from the plug. Found a pic for reference. Also just to double check, did you try driving and turning to get the locker to engage? The light will flash until it engages.

Right now the locker doesn't work, hasn't since I bought it. I doubt it's the wire, just the first place I'm starting with trouble shooting. But it changes the flashing pattern from 2h to 4L even with the wire cut lol. Think I'll try again knowing the side to the plug needs to be grounded. Touched both ends of bare wire to the truck, but I probably just need touch the right side to a good ground connection rather than paint or rust spots...

It's more "idiot-proofing" than a safety switch. Too many people would use it incorrectly and screw things up. And if you truly need it, you probably need 4L. But many of us was it when we don't truly need it.
And lockers are safe at high speed, unless you're turning. It's one of the first things people do on a drag car, which hit very high speeds. But they don't turn while racing, as least they hope not.

Selectable lockers are fairly new at being common place. Used to be $1,000 and axle for ARB’s so pretty much only hardcore rigs ran them. As to fulltime lockers in the rear axle, they are fairly common. Lunchbox lockers on up. I ran a full detroit in the rear of my last 85 and had zero issues safety related. They do have some quirks to get used to however. On wet pavement they tend to have the rear end fishtail out consistently when under power and same with ice. Tire chirping will get the attention of others and the occasional LEO. Tire ware and tare was minimal in my opinion.

When you get it working put it in when you leave the pavement and then just drive it.
