kinda lol'd on those pdf's if you read thru them.

they put blame right back on the phones.

text issues, clear out all the texts.

Bluetooth issues, wipe the phone pretty much.

You'd be surprised how much that works, often just deleting the phone from the head unit and repairing it works too. Otherwise the next step is usually updating the headunit.

yeah I understand but its funny on this board since most have already tried that.

but I understand the general public wouldn't have clue about those normal troubleshooting steps.

biggest issue I have seen is entune updates have ruin my perfect connection on my S5, before the update, never ever had a failed connection to start up Pandora. after the update, entune randomly will not start up.

also on the 12 Tacoma, the iphone 5 & 6 the wife had never had any issues. she switched to the galaxy S6 and now she has issues with BT.

hopefully when we buy the new 3rd gen Tacoma that comes out this fall with the JBL head unit it will sort itself out.

forgot to add : the text issues is not the phone, its the head unit BT timing out. too many texts to transfer is causing the head unit BT to time out and kill the connection during the transfer. its why I suggested in another thread to drop your text history down to about 100 instead of 1000 (Samsung) or from infinity on other androids.

After the last update I had issues as well but turns out I had to manually fire up Entune on the phone each time. Before it just worked automatically.

Eh, here's some "Tech Tips" on TIS regarding Bluetooth issues. Been seeing enough people complaining about it that this might help narrow down the issues at hand.

Any chance you've run across a TIS specific to the JBL unit? My 2013 LE Bluetooth is literally unusable when using it on a call. Other party reports "you're breaking up really bad". Service advisor admits that the sound quality sucks as well. Have replaced the speaker with no change. Dealer is hesitant to replace the head unit, they're not even sure where the Bluetooth module lives. My phone is solid, Samsung S5, works great in my wife's car.

Other than updating the head unit to the newest software, there is no TSB that seems to indicate that particular issue...

ok thanks, dealer is telling me that there is no software update available to my unit. It's the JBL with DVD disc driven Nav. No way to wirelessly update the software. They've never seen or heard of a DVD disc update to this model.

You know what, I know some of our early units were weird like that... I'm not sure if there even is a CD update for it...

I am very interested in this subject. But my issues aren’t even able to get to the phone connecting. The steering wheel controls don’t even work on my 2011 4Runner. I don’t have navigation, but do have BT. Nothing I do can initiate any kind of search or pairing for BT. Phone and talking button on steering wheel don’t actually do anything. None of these are addressed in the above tips. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for this?

2010 w Nav/ Bluetooth doesnt work...

Just bought a 2010 Limited yesterday. I love the car. When I go to pair my phone, everything seems to work. It pairs etc. However, when I go to play music, it says my portable player is not connected. It shows two portable players being connected- both of which are from the previous owner. I can not find a way to remove those and add my phone. Even though my phone shows itself being connected, when I press play the sound comes out of my phone. What can I do to remedy this?

I would unpair my phone and the delete all other devices that still show in the headunit.
You may have to search throughout the settings to make sure you have deleted all devices.
Once that is done try to pair your phone again.
Make sure the sound is being played thru the Bluetooth setting on the head unit.
