Introduction

Some 2003 and 2004 model year 4Runner vehicles may experience a condition where the seat cushion height adjustment handle is contacted while entering or exiting the vehicle causing the seat adjustment to change. A new seat cushion height adjustment handle has been developed to correct this condition.

Applicable Vehicles^ 2003 - 2004 model year 4Runner vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

Refer to the Technical Information System (T.I.S), 2003 or 2004 model year 4Runner Repair Manual: Seat; Front Seat Assembly LH (Manual Seat Type); Overhaul Step 3.

1. Remove the seat cushion height adjustment handle No. 2.








A. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the seat cushion height adjustment handle LH.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

B. Remove the 2 screws and the seat cushion height adjustment handle.

2. Replace the seat cushion height adjustment handle with a new service part.

3. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
