are you DIYing it or having a shop do it? I had a shop do mine and they made their own plates. I've had no issues. Just ask the shop what they recommend if you are going that route. Otherwise I think they all look pretty good online, but no personal experience

they all the same. I never understand why anyone would buy fancy filler plates that nobody will ever see or care.

When it comes to BMC, if done correctly, they should be hard to spot if you are trying to make it look aesthetically pleasing. Thats just me.

The tires were replaced today. Toyo Open Country AT (1st gen) with AT3. Same size, 285/70r17. So there is the increase in tread from worn to new.
Then had an alignment. After that the tires rubbed.
Got home and removed the mud flaps. Tires now clear. Barely.
Then one of the horses wandered over to inspect the work, and signed off on the job by pooping on (splashed) one of the new tires.

I never have either. The body mount bolts and sleeves will rust out. Well, not in Phoenix, they won't.

I used the SDHQ plates, they are angled a bit so fit tighter to the mount and give a bit more room vs alignment settings and tire size/wheel offset.

I welded nuke plant pipe for several years. This took me about 15 minutes per side. No new plates needed and maintain the factory look. Free. I made this video to show how to do it. If you have the skill it's no problem! Check this vid out. I attached a picture of the finished result.

Really? I run wildpeaks and love them except they only last me about 10,000 miles instead of 50. I drive hard though and off road year round. Do they last longer?

I used RSG. They're curved to give more clearance than the flat plates.

I’ve only had the Toyos a short time, but from I read, they have a tougher tread compound so they typically last longer. My biggest knock on the Wildpeaks was how heavy they are compared to an equivalently sized Toyo. I probably don’t off-road as much as you, but they both perform about the same off-road.

HEAVY Plus on this, filler plates are purely cosmetic and no one is going to see them anyways. As you move up in tire size and adjust suspension why not leave it flexible? It doesn't bother me but I know it will trigger some of those show truck "overlanders" out there

For some it's a structural thing. I can't remember what thread I saw it in but the BM will supposedly help to keep the fire wall and floor pan from getting crushed in a head on collision.

The DRT relocation kit claims to be the strongest, and certainly looks good for those that care about aesthetics. It is the most expensive I believe.

I have no experience with it, but there is a fab guy Timbo's Customs in Florida who is on Tacoma World, and has installed several of them. Maybe he can shed some light on the quality and install.

It's to keep the front wheel from intruding into the cab in the small frontal overlap crash test. I figure my plate bumper will turn the 4runner sideways and into a nice high speed rollover in that scenario
