Body mounts loose after nerf bars

so, i installed some nerf bars, but the design of the body mounts require the center bolt to be held while tightening the nut. the nerf bars limit access to the body mounts, so, i think i need some sort of socket but then i can't hold the center bolt.

is there a special tool or technique to tighten these damn bolts?

Body mount bolts should have tangs on the upper washers to hold them in place while you tighten or loosen them but if they aren't staying in place then I would suggest looking up a How to install body lift thread that'll show you how to remove interior panels and where to look for the top side of the body mount bolt. Then it's an easy job with socket on top and bottom.

+1. Make sure they are torqued to factory spec. If they aren't, you can feel the body not being snug to the frame.
