bolt on slider recommendations?

Without sleeves, you can compress the frame with the through bolts. Sandwich, or not.

Bolt on is fine if it is double shear...I would not trust those White knuckle ones. I am working with 4xInnovations to make a set of bolt ons. They will warp around and sandwich the frame and will be just as strong as weld on.

That would be awesome! I am planning a trip next summer to Wisconsin and was thinking of picking up some 4xInnovations armor

I was born and raised in Sheboygan! I want to spend time with my family that lives there and show my wife my old stomping grounds. That, and I wanted to see if any of my old offroading spots are still around. Maybe head up to Antigo where I have some family with land.

Nice i grew up in the Door County area, but my mom is originally from Manitowoc.

Up north is pretty good around this time of year, we have a cottage near townsend and I was up this last weekend. I am gonna head up at the end september for a fall colors camping trip I think.

Any progress on the wrap around slider mounts? I remember that being talked about a lot on TTORA back in the day, kind of like these:

I remember reading on one of the threads on this same subject, one of the companies that make them stated that you should only weld in one orientation. I thought I remember them stating you should only put horizontal welds on the frame and not do vertical or perpendicular welds because it could then be an area where the frame will crack.

Has anyone else heard this before? I might be in the market for weld-on sliders in the future and wouldn't want to compromise the integrity of my frame doing this modification.

I'm pretty sure any bolt on for a 3rd Gen is going to require drilling into the frame though, there just aren't the right holes in the frame to get around it. While drilling the frame wasn't that bad honestly (using a unibit) if I was capable of welding I would have probably just welded mine on. I can't weld though and didn't want to pay $150 to pay someone to do it.

For just about everyone the shrockworks sliders are way overbuilt. I can jack mine off the ground from the sliders and they are bolt on. Mine may never get scraped, but I'd rather have them there than have more door skin ripped off. I am hoping to get into some more offroading though now that I have them. Unless you are slamming the truck from high drops onto the sliders repeatedly I don't think you're going to see an issue with their method of bolting on.

8 total, 4 on each side. 2 from the bottom of the frame and 2 from the outside. It's not bad, just take your time, triple check everything, and get a good unibit. I've used that bit so many times since I bought it for the sliders.

My friend has a Tacoma. And has bolt on sliders. And it’s a rust trap. Especially if you live in east coast. Sand, water and mud sits between the mount and frame. A good welded slider would be much better.
