Borla air filter?

My boss aked me a question about his 4Runner, maybe he thinks I know something about 4Runners......

Anyway, he bought a 2006 2wd V8 SR5 last year and it has Borla exhaust.

He asked me about the Borla air filter and how to clean it. I went outside and sure enough, on top of the air fliter, it says Borla Air Filter, do not discard, wash and clean every 50,000 miles. I opened the box and the filter has a fine metal mesh around the filter, I guess to protect it. He has about 30,000 miles and it looks like it could use cleaning.

I have done a google search, but a lot of members on other forums say, Borla doesn't make an air filter, it must be a K&N. So, I thought I would ask this forum. Anyone out there with a Borla exhasut on their V8's? Do you have a Borla Air Filter and if so, how can you clean it? Thanks......

borla air filter

if your boss' 4runner does infact have the borla exhaust then he might have the borla air filter that comes with it. when i ordered my exhaust it came with a borla air filter. should have a black rubber border and a neon greenish filter. k&n filters are deep red.

air filter

also....i forgot to mention, the best way to clean it is with a k&n air cleaner kit. it will take about a day to apply the cleaning solution and allow it to dry. he will not be able to use it in the vehicle that day. very simple though.

i have this same question. Also would it be wise to get a CAI wit h the borla filter or would i get a new filter with the CAI or should i just keep the one i have?
