Borla Cat Back Exhaust System

I have a trick for breaking the system in...spray some water into the exhaust with the car off. Let it sit in there for a few minutes, then rev it out. It breaks up the packing and essentially breaks the system in immediately. It sounds odd but it works great. I've run exclusively Borla systems since 2000 on everything from my Mitsu Evo VIII to my Mazda RX-8. They are amazing systems that will outlast every other car other than the 4Runners. These things just don't quit! But seriously, you are getting the highest quality materials, welds, and pieces. I'll go this route when my stock system take a crap.

Pardon my ignorance, but I was wondering if a quality muffler shot would/could bend the back half of the Borla exhaust to make it "side exit". I'm guessing they would also have to potentially cut the lentgh to ensure that it doesn't stick out from the side.
Thoughts?
The reason I ask is that if I'm going to buy a cat back system... it needs to be side exhaust because I have my windows (and the rear) down all the time.

Any reasonably good shop can easily modify a system any way you'd like. I've had shops custom fab an exhaust completely, and it was a shop that was nothing special. They may have to use their own pipes they stock in the shop but it's completely plausible and simple. I'd just ask a shop or two and see how confident you feel in their response. The shop I used welcomed the challenge.

2014 TE and running the Borla Cat Back and TRD CAI. Nice set-up and tone from Cat Back with no droning. The TRD CAI works very well with no whistling. Under WOT, it does get loud, but all cars do.
Comparison was I had a 2005 SR5 with TRD Cat Back and AFE CAI. The TRD CAT Back droned 1800-2000 RPM. The AFE CAI whistled and sounded like a jet under WOT.
My opinion and measured by wife meter, the Borla-TRD set-up is the way to go. She didn't even notice the difference after I installed while always complained about how load the 2005 was.
Also, suggest complete a search on old posts as someone installed TRD CAI on 14 TE and completed before/after Dyno test. Results were in line with what Toyota noted for increased HP/Torque putting an end to the nay-sayers on CAI and value.

Instead of spending $500 on the Borla system I got the same size Borla muffler and a tip. I took it to a shop and had them install the muffler and put a bend at the end so the tip comes out the side.

Shop install $100
Half the price of the complete system. The side exit is important to me, I ride with the back window down a lot and it has done away with the exhaust smell in the cabin. The sound is nice and goes well with the TRD intake.

Was the OAL of the Borla muffler the same OAL as the OEM Toyota muffler that was replaced?

Not to jump your ?^^ [MENTION=103267]Saker[/MENTION] but the flowmaster super 70ii is nearly same as oem , reason i bought mine less work & fits up tighter in that space . No low hanging fruit so to speak

Is this the one you got? Looks like the stock hanger (isolator) has a 1.75" hole-to-hole distance. So this one should add ½" clearance.

I think that's the one I got, if not then it's this one I'll have to double check later. But whichever one I got is definitely better than the stock one cause there's much more clearance now.
How in the world are getting NO whistling from the TRD intake? Mine whistles anytime the RPM gets above 2100-2200 RPM. Its normal for a CAI to whistle. Heck, my stock one whistled the tiniest bit.
