Boss Coilovers Leaking, Replace with 5100???

Hey eveyrone! So I got this lift installed last summer and the front shocks are leaking already. I know I'm covered by warranty but, I'm in Canada. Toytec said they want me to buy new coilovers and send them back the old ones, they will then decide whether to refund me the money. Shipping is going to cost me quite a bit. I was thinking to buy new Tundra 5100s and reuse the eibach springs I have in my coilovers. Just want to get your opinion on that.

I'm guessing I will need new strut mounts? Also what perch would I set the 5100s? It seems that Toytec uses quite a spacer in these COs.

I need opinions! Will this work? Have anybody done this? Also if somebody has specs on the size of the CO from top to bottom for a 2.5"-3" lift?

id push them a little harder on the warranty, explain that its your daily driver and they need to send you a replacement then once you have installed send the defective ones back. a lot of companies try to operate this way to save money, but if they are offering a warranty and the product is defective, its their responsibility to take care of the problem completely.

as far as I know the shock is actually a bilstein part made for toytec, the bushings are actually smaller than the tundra 5100s and wear out pretty quickly.

Thats what they said, believe it or not... I don't really want another set of boss coilovers since they leak, duh! So please lets NOT have a Toytec warranty thread!

I can buy 5100s for a $100 each which is not much for me. I think it'll save me time and some headache. So I've pretty much decided to go this route. Now back to my original questions. Thank You!

The springs that come on the Boss coilovers wont fit on the Tundra 5100. Coil diameter is too small and the ends are machined flat top and bottom. The tundra 5100 needs a pigtail end. Plus the length wouldn't be correct

Not sure what your shocks look like but its worth mentioning that some oil on the shock body is normal. Since its got a high pressure gas charge, every cycle of the shock is going to push a little oil past the seals since no seal is perfect. A little oil can look like a lot as well.

Thank you, I didn't know its normal. I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to my rig and potential problems with it. I guess I have to leave it alone for now until it starts giving me trouble. Thanks again!

Yea i get you. Usually if the company is going to warranty their product. They usually will send a replacement. Sometimes there will a be small fee but not make you pay the full amount for another set and then they will decide if they are gonna refund you or not. Depending on what the defect is on the other set of coilovers. Lol

I have a broken 5100 in my back seat right now. I was following a buddy down a gravel road at about 15mph when it snapped.

Bilstein did warranty it, but still...

snapped? damn. I just ripped the top cap out of my front 5100, made a mess of shock oil and had zero damping but didnt snap atleast
