Brake bleeding with Mityvac Fluid Evacuator

Hey all! I'm about to finally do my Tundra brake upgrade. I don't have anyone available to help me bleed my brakes but I do have a mityvac 7201 fluid evacuator. Is there a way to bleed my brakes solo with this thing? It's not the dedicated mityvac brake bleeder kit, so I'm not sure.

Looks like there's an adapter kit I'd need.

Maybe I'll just wait until I have someone available who can press a brake pedal.

When you do the upgrade, get some hose pinchers like these and clamp off the flexible line before you remove the caliper. Make sure the lines are not dry rotted or cracking.

Install the brake components, and get a set of these

Speed Bleeder 10mm Speed Bleeders, Set (4) 10mm x 134.44mm SB1010 | eBay

Once everything is installed, with the old bleeders on or no bleeders at all, remove the pincher clamp and let the caliper gravity bleed. Keep an eye on the brake reservoir. When fluid starts to leak out of the hole, install the bleeders and bleed the rest of the way.

I've been tempted to get one of these (or a similar vacuum pump). Doesn't the brake bleeder screw have to be perfectly sealed so that no air gets in when you loosen it and apply a vacuum? eg. you have to wrap teflon tape around the bleeder screw. That just seems like a potential contamination source.

yep, thats the problem with those vacuum bleeders, they pull air from around the threads of the bleeder screw. About the only way to do it solo is to have a pressure bleeder from the top side. You should be able to get it pretty close with a gravity bleed and your vacuum pump tho

Just did my tundra brake upgrade today as well. Haven't bled the brakes yet but I've never had a problem bleeding brakes by myself with just a hose and bottle with a little brake fluid already in it. Just pop the hose onto the bleeder screw and then stick the other end into the catch bottle and make sure the end of the hose is submerged in fluid so you don't suck any air back in.

Just get Russel speed bleeders. Makes it simple.
