Brake cylinder?

So just saw this. Haven't pulled the drum off yet but thinking cylinder?
If so that okay it needs new rear pads anyway and I am going to put stainless extensions on too so the cylinder can just be part of that.
Nothing on inside so thinking not an axle seal.
If its brake cylinder than fluid will get low and it may get soft as air is introduced to the system.
If brake fluid is full and solid pedal than I would suspect maybe a blown axle seal. If so check your breather on the diff and fluid level ASAP.

Thanks guys I will do as suggested. REALLY hoping not an axle seal at this point and again, no fluid on the backside as I have seen in other posts about the axle seals.
Brakes feel normal but I was thinking that's because it appears to be seeping more than a full on leak and of course the fronts do 90% anyway.

Got it apart. No doubt axle seal. So if you see this on your drums it's likely axle seal sorry.
Bummed! Oh we so I'll be doing those on both sides over the next week or so. Will do myself and take to my mech to do the pressing etc...lined it up with him today. Found the threads and YouTubes. Will also do pads and some other new toytech goodies.
Any tips from those who have done it before.

Okay fair enough...shoes. Not doing a disc conversion so that is the correct word for them.
So diff breather extension is part of the plan here while I'm doing all this.

the breather vent should be replaced . I also do not like how Toyota mount this vent in a very bad area esp. with owners using this vehicle in off road use.
dirt/dust and water does effect this metal vent .. so if it plugs up , it will cause leaks and seal damage since those seals in the diff will not properly ride on the metal with pressure or suction if the vent is NG.
I have had the axle shaft seals leak . one time it was because the axle was hit in an accident. vehicle hit me in the driver side rear. had to replace axle [scrap yard] ... leaked one year after the hit....
the other seal was done under warranty seal was damaged on factory build.
