Brake Dust

Ok...Has anyone else ever noticed the massive amount of brake dust on their front wheels? I originally thought it was the brake pads that I was using but I upgraded them to the "supposed" better brake pads from Autozone that were supposed to reduce the amount of front brake dust..

Basically, I'm starting to get pretty tired of having my wheels looking terrible after one weeks worth of driving.

A co-worker of mine drives a BMW and her rims never look bad and I know I wash my Runner way more than she washes her BMW.
Not to mention that my GF drives a VW Jetta that hasn't been washed in more than 6-7 months and her rims look like the just were hand cleaned...

Anyone have any ideas or experiences? Thanks!

Lol, I have autozone brake pads to and they do put out alot of dust! I plan on switching them out shortly.

brake pads

I got the EBC green stuff pads and have no brake dust what so ever! I also have the Rotora H2 ceramic pads on my speed6 with virtually no brake dust. I would recommend both of these if you plan on changing out your dusty ones

I purchased a set of ceramic pads from my local NAPA auto parts store with the boast that the ceramic pads would have significant less brake dust than the organic pads.

So far they've been right about that. I have notice little to no brake does accumulation on my wheels.

Yeah the ceramic pads were the ones that I upgraded to.

It wouldn't have anything to do with my rotors would it? I'm pretty sure it's been a while since they have either been replaced or turned. And for all I know, they might be the original rotors that came on the Runner with almost 190k miles.

I am a little bit of a speed demon as I use to have a 300ZX Twin Turbo and I do drive the Runner faster than normal. Even going through a car wash will not take the dust off.

I'll look into getting some tomorrow when I go to the stealership tomorrow for "hopefully" my new shocks due to the recall I just noticed today.
