Brake Failure

Bought a used 03 4runner v8. 5 days after I bought it the brakes failed on it. Luckily I didn't hit anything or going at a high rate of speed. Brake pedal went to the floor with no stopping power. At times I had to put it in neutral and pump the brake peddal lightly. Once I even had to used the emergency brake, but that had little help. Had it towed to the dealership, they could not "duplicate the problem". It sat in service for 7 days. Service manager got involved said that he drove it himself and couldn't find anything wrong. Did a warranty history on it and nothing came back on it. Called the Toyota regional person to inform them of the problem. End result...nothing got fixed because it never acted up again. Not sure if this is going to happen again..fluke thing...Have no idea. Anyone else hear of this?

The least one can do is visually inspect the calipers and master cylinder for signs of any leaks. But if it

The service manager said they had done "testing" on it. I have no idea what kind of testing. Probably should have been more exact on what types, but I know nothing about what should be done to check. The reservior for the brake fluid is full. I haven't seen any leak problems....ie fluid on the ground after sitting for a bit. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it won't happen again. Any suggestions for questions that I should ask if this happens again?
