Brake Grind

Front passenger side of 04 runner is having a grinding sound when braking- assuming it's brakes needing replacement but WHY would it only happen on one side of vehicle?

Type "frozen caliper" in to the search button. I suspect that's what's happening to you. Here's a few threads to get you started:

Here is a question - I bought it about 3 weeks ago at car lot (Not a toyota dealership) do I call them up and say "Hey, man, just bought this from you and the caliper froze up on me" or is not worth the hassle? My guess is they will say so sorry!

Was it 'as-is' or does it have a warranty? That's the question.

I brought to my trusty mechanic - rotors in back were rusted and rubbing - low cost - easy fix! I'm going to call the dealer and just say "When you put a "Certified Pre Owned" on a window - you should at least inspect it. Not just polish it up and throw it on the lot. I'm pretty auto savvy and the rest of the ride is pretty slick - except for the damn rear tailgate froze up on me and now I have to kind of "lean into" it to get it to open.
