Brake issue, please help

Even after greasing the shaft, you guys can't feel the trans bound up and finally clunking into 1st when you inch forward after a faster stop?

IMO, Toyota engineers screwed up on the downshift logic coming to a stop. The shift to 1st should come in a few mph higher so it can happen before the truck is completely stopped.

Most of us have the 4wd option, and as you noted, the 2wd driveshaft does not have lubrication fittings like the 4wd units do. That being said, I haven't noticed any issues with downshift timing on my trans. but, I have two '03s, one V6 and one V8. One has the 4 speed trans, the other the 5 speed. Neither have downshift issues like you are describing.
