I was wondering if anyone can help with my problem? I have a 98' limited 4runner and mine is now experiencing the infamous starter contact problem. Up until recently it wasnt that bad as i just have to turn key until it starts. Well here recently it is getting worse as i have to turn key more and more until it decides to start. Could this power surge be what is causing it to blow the 10 amp brake light fuse? I was alerted to it doing this when my truck would go into gear and i tore down whole console and found nothing wrong with park lock mech and selenoid that actuates the push rod. Needless to say i trace it back to a blown brke light fuse. Replaced fuse and boom itbshifts like normal. I shut truck off after replacing and testing new fuse and as soon as i started it again it blew the same fuse. I am 99% there is nothing electrically with the brake lamp system but cant quite see why starter contact issue would back log and blow brake lamp fuse and nothing else. Anyone ever experience this before? I am just tryin to figure out where to look next if after i fix starter prob if it keeps on blowin brake fuses. Thanx for the help and here to the best generetion of 4runners to ever be built.
