Brake light out

Hello everyone,

I just recently purchased my first 4Runner at the age of 16 and I am not very mechanically inclined, but looking to get there. My left brake light doesn't come on so I took out the casing to look make sure the bottom bulb didn't light up. It wouldn't light up when I pressed on the brake, but it would light up when I turned on the headlights. And when I turned on the headlights and then pressed on the brake, it didn't get brighter like it should have. Do you guys have any idea what could be wrong and help explain it to me?

That is a dual filament bulb so your brake light filament is probably burn out, just replace the bulb.
