Brake lights question...

Just bought an 02 4R and I inherited two problems: one of the brakelights is out and there is no manual to show me how to fix the bulb!

I ordered the manual but I cannot figure out how to replace the bulb. I removed the two screws that hold the lens cover on but cannot figure out how to remove it to access the bulbs. Without knowing, I don't want to apply too much pressure and break something...

Any help would be appreciated. Glad to be here.

you have to push the taillights OUTWARDS... so for example, push the passenger side one toward the pass side, and the drivers side toward the drivers side... not backwards.

it may take some good effort, but be careful not to go nuts on it.

then just unscrew the harness out of the socket, replace the bulb and reverse.

shouldnt you be able to remove some plastic paneling from the cargo area and just twist the bulbs out......... ill go look now but it shouldnt require removing the whole assy..... ill correct myself later if im mistaken.......

huh... well if so thats way more work.

its 2 screws, pushing the taillight out, then unscrewing the bulb.

Get used to replacing taillights

I had a 94 for a few years, and I now have a 2000. Both have been really bad about going through taillight bulbs, probably 1 or more every 2-3 years.

Luckily it's easy. The headlights (at least on the 94) are a different story. you have to struggle to hold stuff out of the way while you get access to the bulb socket, and hope you don't break stuff while bending it to make room.
