Brake Questions

Hello,

I've had this problem for quite awhile now and tried bleeding the brakes but it did not work to solve it. I also ensured while bleeding it that the pedals never touched the floor by putting a block of wood there.

The problem is that the pedal travels approximately 1-2 inches before the car actually starts braking or "grabbing" with any sort of power. The pedal never touches the floor or anything so I don't think it'd be air in the lines anymore.

Also, after pumping the brakes while the car is off, it does get tighter until I start driving if that means anything.

So any idea on what this could be or is this common to all 4runners?

And my second question is is the e-brake suppose to make a click noise when you lift it? Mine doesn't, but I know it works since the car doesn't move in reverse with it on. Should I be concerned?

Thanks
