After searching, 98% say OEM is the best replacement for brake pads and rotors. So my question is which online Toyota dealer or website has the best pricing on the set of 4 pads/rotors?

If they are comparable in price to the aftermarket I would like to go OEM. However also interested to hear from the Hawk/Akebono contingent...

60k miles, recommended by dealer at Service.
Quoted $1100 plus tax? :frisky:
Lots of stop and go driving, heavy loads, tow twice a year.

This was covered a few weeks ago. www.trdparts4u.com had really good pricing on pads and rotors. That's probably where I'll buy mine when I need them. Like $150 or so for new OE pads and 2 new front rotors, delivered.

Thank you!!! I'll look at this site as the previous site says the rotors are discontinued????

Also when I order do I need anything else besides the actual pads and rotors? I'm having them installed but want to be prepared.

Interesting.... I searched in the 5th gen forum but didn't see anything... Amazon has one or two specific to the 4runner.

How do the drilled and slotted rotors do in dusty and muddy environments?

I replaced mine at the dealer and they squeaked and wore out within a few years.. I replaced them all with Power stop and LOVE them!! do a search on here and you wont hear anything bad.. I feel a difference and hear NON NOISE!!

Haven't had a problem but haven't been in snow or mud since install... Desert and dirt though, with no problems. They seem to grip just fine and really well. About 20k on them so far. We will see long term.

Lot of great reviews of OEM brakes. Maybe I had bad luck. After dealer did mine, they squeaked until i replaced them with these.

Anyone want to comment about TRD vs plain OEM? Worth the double price premium?

I realized that prices vary a lot even within local dealers. I simply take the lowest web quote from a local one to my dealer and they pricematch. The prices are usually within a few bucks, less than $5 and i would rather pay that and walk away with the parts.

I was quoted $400 for pads and rotors on my 2010 TE at my dealer.

My dealer in Oregon seems to run a $299 front or rear special all the time- $399 normal- no tax every month.

$1100 for both sounds crazy.
 
Anyone have experience with EBC Brakes Yellowstuff pads? I know the OEM pads are good, but with all the added weight on my 4Runner, they are wearing down much quicker than they should. Braking distance isn't too bad, but I'd like something better. I am considering going with EBC Brakes Yellowstuff pads along with Stop Tech rotors. Anyone have experience with either, good or bad?
