Brakes issue on my 2014 SR5

Hi all,
I could really use some help/advice.
I have a great mechanic who I trust, and when I can't do something myself that's where I go.

I have brakes that have too much pedal travel, and don't stop worth a dime...BUT if I quick double press the brake pedal, the pedal is WAY firmer, and stopping is improved. (only 8K miles on pads, and it's been like this since, I did new pads, rotors, and calipers) I have taken it back twice, and had them check it out, and had them bleed brakes 3 times total now, and nothing is changed. I know I could put on aggressive pads, but that won't change the brake pedal issue.
Thoughts anyone?

I'm not a mechanic, so I could be wrong. But, it sounds to me like there's air in the line.

Thanks for the reply! I agree with that thought, but it's hard to say it is, when mechanic has bled system 3 times....doesn't mean there isn't, but it just seems like it acts like air in lines.

So the thing I see commonly is when someone bleeds the brakes on the GX/4Runner is after the initial bleeding the rears still have some air trapped. Pump the brakes then crack the rears individually with no pedal depressed (otherwise the actuator does it’s job and fluid blows out) wait about 15-20 seconds while watching for bubbles from the bleeder screw. Not 100% sure this is the solution but this is what I see a lot after someone flushes brake lines.

I know on the Tacoma you can get the abs to push out all the air. But it does suck brake fluid quick so be careful.

Sounds like there is air in the lines. Take it somewhere else
