Brakes - Why do they suck so bad!

For those of us who want more... Has anyone done a tundra TRD brake kit on a 4runner?

I can't speak to the 5th Gen but I did the Tundra upgrade on my 3rd gen and it was great. It stopped better but more importantly, no more warped rotors.

I had to make what was basically a panic stop once while driving on an interstate at about 75. I was very impressed. Stopped quickly and very straight as well. Nothing wrong with my brakes.SR5 2012.

+1 I am with you. I was driving the other day and some a$$hat tried to make me hit him fro behind because I flashed him. He was doing 55 in a 65 in the left lane. So glad the brakes were spot on. My wife was impressed as well. I think the brakes are great. Just be careful if you hit them too fast or else the auto-brake-thingamagiggy kicks in and stops on a dime. :wow:

My curiosity peaked a bit when I saw this (discontinued obviously but):

There is a rear set too, but man $3800 to upgrade brakes, phew that's a lot a dough, if it would even work.

This is tempting actually. However I think at that price it would make more sense to go aftermarket with stoptech, brembo, etc to ensure fit.

My experience as well. Great brakes that have saved from a couple of fender benders. In my old FJ(manual, full-time 4x4), hitting the brakes on a bump would make the FJ skip a bit and cause the pucker effect if there was a car in front of me. T4R is night and day better in my experience.
