Braking on snow with '03

Hi everyone:

Saturday was my first time on snow covered roads with the'03 and I was very impressed. The roads were already plowed, but the strong winds had re-covered many areas with snow. Anyway, I decided to see how the ABS worked. Downhill at about 30 mph I nailed the brakes on all snow...only a slight ticking noise from the ABS, (previous Audi made a Godawful noise), and the vehicle stopped straight as an arrow. No tendency to go sideways into a skid at all. I'm guessing the Skid Control was probably coming into play also????

Bottom line...what an impressive and confidence inspiring vehicle this is when stopping on snow! And I still have the "No-Seasons" on.

Can't wait to see how this baby goes through a foot or more of unplowed.

Well, the 4runner also has Electronic BrakeDistribution which helps to distribute the braking power based on weight (passenger, cargo, etc.) AND traction at each wheel. That is why it is important to have 4-channel 4-sensor ABS system which the 4runner has had since 2001. This is also helpful to have a controlled stop around a corner.
