Braking problems

I'm having some issues with braking. From time to time when I put my foot on the brake, the peddle looses resistance and drops a few inches to the floor before the brakes engage. I'm thinking I might have a vacuum problem. Any ideas to a fix are welcome. Thanks.

Or your front wheel bearings can be bad/loose. This causes the disk to orient in a slight angle and pistons may move bit longer. I experienced this with a hilux and took about 3 weeks to find the issue. Even got a new M/C!

I'll start with the Master Cylinder and go from there.

Also check the connections at the brake booster check valve. Mine had an aftermarket booster when I bought the vehicle. The check valve on the brake booster had 2 hose nipples, one which was in use, the other had a rubber cap/plug that had started to deteriorate. The deteriorated cap caused a vacuum leak that made my brakes unresponsive and spongy for the first few inches of pedal travel.

First off, always bleed the brakes when having pressure issues. Like stated check brake booster for cracks and or bad vacuum lines. Make sure now cylinder leaks at rear drums and no leaks at the calipers. Then move to MC.

Hose looks good. Check valve looks good. No leaking at the calipers or drums (going to take the rear wheels off next week as I'm having E brake issues also so I'll inspect closer then). Will bleed brakes early next week when the MC gets here. Thanks everyone. I'll keep you posted.
