Brand new 2020 screen scratched?

I certainly don't think its too much to ask for them to do white glove treatment particularly on a return for something like that. Man, I am no where OCD but the warranty work so far that two dealers have done on my truck is below average and that is just sad.
 
My Scratched Radio Expirience

I recently bought a 2021 4Runner Venture edition and started to research around for screen protectors and landed on this thread. After reading what everyone has been through I decided to check out my head unit, lo and behold, my screen was scratched. It is worth noting I have only had the rig for a week and I have not cleaned it myself.

Scared the dealership would play the "you probably scratched it" card, I decided to email the person that did my walk through. He suggested to go into the service drive and have a tech review the issue. The morning after, no appointment, I decided to take my chances and got in line. A person greeted me, checked out my radio, and simply just said, "alright we will order you one for you and replaced it". No questions and no push back whatsoever.

Was I lucky or is that something standard you guys are seeing in your dealership?

I'd still recommend ordering a screen protector and putting it on right after they swap the headunit

Saw this thread the other day and ordered a protector from amazon. Installed today and it went on perfect with no bubbles. The angle of my picture is a little low. When views front eye level it lines up pretty good. The colors seems brighter, but there is some reflection now. My windows are tinted pretty dark so it's not that bad.

About 5 days ago I looked at my screen from the side with a flashlight after reading [MENTION=569635]kaitlyn2004[/MENTION] 's post. Sure enough, it has scratches in it. I ordered a screen protector to cover it and stop any further scratches.
I called the dealership told them of the issue, they told me to drive by so they could look at it. Went by today, when they gen a new rental in, they will call me to come by and look at the HU. If I want the one out of the rental, they will swap it out for me.
So, in the meantime, I will put the screen protector on mine to stop any further scratches. If it covers them and I can't see them, I'll assess whether I'll have them replace it!

Just sharing a man made issue. When they replaced mine they scratched the new screen so tell the senior service tech to leave the factory plastic cover on or tell them you'll install a protector on it before they touch it.
For what its worth I did an audio upgrade and with following simple directions they can swap the radio in less than 1/2 hour. I would ask them to let you install it.
Edit: you or them, need to lay it on a clean microfibre(s) as it rests on the gear shifter while plugging in the connectors.

Thx for the advice.
I have a great relationship with the Sr. Tech that has worked on my new T4R and my previous one. So I will definitely be on top of this install as much as they will allow.
They would be removing one from a rental (no factory cover) and installing it in mine....So I can only hope for the best!
Yep, I'll bring my 2 thick microfiber towels!

Same thing happened to me, I was kinda pissed, I bought this screen protector from amazon to prevent that from happening, when I put it on it covered all the scratches. good fit and easy install

Sounds simply dumb but was there a protective film you peeled off or perhaps haven't peeled off. Similar to cell phone screens and other screens like that. My whole interior and screens get caked in clay mud off roading all the time. No swirls like that after cleaning.

Nope, no plastic screen protector on these HU’s.
These are the newer HU’s that are using a soft plastic screen.
My 14 never got the first scratch!
 
Are we sure there isn’t a screen protector built into these? Mine has a slight lip on the edges of the screen that can catch a finger nail. I haven’t tried to remove it yet as im trying to see if this in fact a screen protector or not. Mine is severely scratched.
