Brand new 4runner owner

Hi, after 6 months of hunting through car lots, Craigslist and auto auctions , I am a proud owner of a 2004 4runner 4x4 with a moon roof and runningboards.

The only major problem with the vehicle is the factory wheels are discolered and starting to peel/rust

I am looking for any help on information regarding wheels- Aftermarket, Paint, Powder coat...

powder coating is awesome and 10x harder than paint so it will last forever. You can keep your tires too. I powder coated my rims for $300 including painting center caps to match.

or you could just get a new set of rims.

there are all kinds of rims floating around in the for sale threads, and a ton of stock rims floating around the 5th gen for sale/wanted thread.

Depending on what you are looking for you could also clean up the wheels and spray them yourself with Plastidip. Lasts about 3 years and comes off with pressure washing.

I had the same problem with my 2007 and my wife with her 2006 Lexus. Must be a problem with Toyota paint. Anyway you can powder coat like above mentioned but you'll have to take everything off and possibly wait a few days. It's a pain.

I think you'd be much better off getting new rims. Personally if you can deal with the look for awhile you could just save up and do a suspension and then put even sicker rims and tires than the stock wheel wells allow. Slow and steady wins this race.

Welcome! Post some pics! May i suggest scs wheels (stealthcustomseries). Beautiful, refined, Toyota specific, perfect specs/offset, not a lot of rigs have em yet and relatively affordable!

I'd recommend plasti-dipping first if you are considering powder coating, gives you a nice test run to see if you like it.

Iv looked for a half-hour is there a forum to check prices before i walk into the dealerahip? So far hes offered $35,400 for a sr5 4x4 black beige interior no options. I just want to see what others are paying for the same one. I live in eau claire wi so not many 4 runners are sold here which makes me wonder if i can get this for around $34,500 or less. I will be ordering it. I cant find a forum here to read and research tho. I am 40 so i might have just looked and missed the forum or thread. Lol..any help is appreciated. First time 4runner buyer. Iv researched to negotiate the 2% holdback but thats about it so far.
