break dust shield?

my front break dust shields are rusted out and rattling around on every bump, and I can hear them against the rotors when driving. should/can I replace these? or can I just get rid of them? cant imagine in their current state that they are serving any purpose. thx for advice

It's a dust sheild... Yeah ditch them. But if they have rusted out I'd get some naval jelly or other rust inhibitor and take care of other rust spots while your there.
