Brian757's "Stormtrooper" Build Thread

you have MORE travel with them vertical like that? Typically you get more suspension travel with the upper mounts inbord this way- / \ because then one side compresses, the axle actually ends up matching the angle

...but, hell, if it works for you then fuhkit

I know, I know.. It has just felt that way for me, its weird.

Oooo, something about that shock bolt/stud makes me cringe... That seems like there would be an awful amount of leverage on that single pin. How is it welded on?? Is it through the entire frame?

Haha! Its well installed. And yes, it is a bolt than runs through the frame and is welded on both sides.

Just an abstract from the yacht club. Damn debris tarps..

Thank you sir. I think its still a bit too stock. I still need to modify the body a bit more. It looks like a stock truck with a lift..

I know what you mean, I have the same issue haha. Ive wanted off road bumpers and sliders for so long now. Ill get there eventually.

So I am thinking I am going to do the Savage Offroad Sliders.
I am probably going to do HREW tubing instead of the DOM tubing.(Because I do not ever face rocks. And I read the DOM vs. HREW FAQ on Savage and I fall under the HREW category)
I am going to powder coat it black and get it welded on.
This will be done within the next few weeks.

Scratch my last comment. I want to get 4X Innovations sliders.
I want the kickout and I want DOM tubing. Yes or No on these?
Yes or no on the Kickout, DOM vs HREW, and if I should use 4X.

My big question is mainly, DOM or HREW? Someone reply somewhat quickly. I am in the ordering process right now.

EDIT: I went ahead and went with the 1.75 x .120 DOM tubing and the kickout. Now I just need to be patient and wait 2 to 3 weeks :)

I personally like the kickout. DOM is extreme overkill for sliders (like killing a fly with a shotgun), and 4xinnovations makes great stuff.

That being said I'm 1000% happy with my Savage sliders:hippie:

In the end, it's your truck, pick the ones YOU want.

@LINY4Runner: Yeah man. I figured, for $50 more, why not for DOM tubing. I figure, if i get t-boned, itll help me a bit! :) I ended up purchasing the kickout. I like the kickouts! Thanks for your input!

@traxman25: Im looking forward to your awesome sliders to be built/arrive! They look awesome! I know you guys will do a great job!

Ok so as I am sure you know the difference between DOM and HREW. You are talking about a piece of armor that will probably take the most abuse beside the underbody skids.

My recommendation is to go wit the stronger stuff and have less worry about denting it or bending it. This is just me though. I will be doing tube bumpers front and rear and tube sliders. You spend a ton on them so might at well make them so they will take more abuse.

Just my two cents.

@smkd13: I completely agree. I figure, I do not want to regret it years from now that I didn't pay an extra $50 to get much better welding/durability.

I am hoping they will live the life of my truck, and I will never have to purchase sliders again.
