Lol well I hope this was QUICK enough.
I painted the logos by hand. Step one go to arts craft store and buy a few small brushes. They from Auto parts store buy Red Duplicolor paint spray can. Spray into a small cup for 4-5 seconds. Use paint and brush with a steady hand. Whoola!

Spent some time camping at Idlywild, CA. It was a quick trip and no offroading but only 2 hours away and good company. Here are a few pics. Had to get my mall crawler shot in for sure.
In other news, I managed to fix my door lock button squeaking with some 3M mounting tape.

Day 1 - The Climb to Camp
To get up to the Bristlecone Forest we took the road from the north which involves an extremely steep long climb through soft mountain terrain. I had previously gone down this and forgot how steep it was. I was able to make it up. Our 2WD friend was pulled up by Rob’s Tacoma. Without a transfer case no one is making it up this hill. The picture doesn’t do it justice.
1. Pretty crappy way to start the trip, first thing we see on the highway is a totally thrashed 3rd gen 4Runner.

Day 2 - Wheeling to 10,250 ft
Day 2 we went wheeling up a pass I’d driven by on my last trip through the White’s. About 1/3 ways up the trail we went from 4 trucks down to 2, just Matt and I. Rob could have made it if he had a lift but at bone stock he was scraping quite a bit. There was at leas one part where my locker was a crucial factor in making it up. Matt’s truck makes it look easy.

It's been awhile since I've posted.
Haven't done too much to the 4Runner that folks would find interesting is one reason. I did finally fix my ebrake not working for crap crap by taking the drums apart and manually adjusting them. The ebrake has felt pretty useless for almost a year now, I was beginning to fear leaking seals but it turns out the rear drums were in need of manual adjustment.
A few weeks ago we camped one night out in Southeast part of Anza-Borrego. Here are a few pics of the sunrise. I think the night photos are pretty sharp for a handheld camera phone. I'm looking forward to some better subject material for this Pixel 3.

Yeah it was pretty good run through the whites. I plan to go back in springtime.
Latest work on the 4Runner:
* Repainted my Satoshi grill
* Replaced my failing TRS corner led bulbs with Amber VLEDS

I re-painted my grille this Fall as well. My truck is Desert Dune so I re-painted the same. The backing grille was pretty chipped so I as repainted it black. I did the original grille mod in 2012, so refresh 2018, isn't bad. You painted yours Chrome? That looks great! I have never been able to get chrome paint to look that good! I did my crash plate at the same time..

Thanks guys. This grill is an OEM-like replacement grill I bought off of eBay years ago and the chrome look still holds up well.
When repainting the black parts of the grill I had two choices either tape everything off and paint it or use a oil based black paint pen. I went the paint pen route.
Here is a pic of it reassembled. Nothing too exciting.
I also installed my new Bosche horns which are the same part# that is OEM for an Acura TL. My 08 TL sounded sooooo much louder than my Hella Supertones that I decided a change was needed. Out with the old!

We recently took a trip to get out of the city and see the Lunar Eclipse. The plan was one night in the far southern Sierra Nevada with exploration during the day and then the following day we would head to Death Valley to visit the Panamint Dunes. I took a lot of pics, plenty of mallcrawl shots but we did get offroad a small amount which was nice.
I have been paranoid about going to DV since everytime I go there something breaks. Even this time something broke, luckily it was just my sway bar bushing and bracket coming loose vs. something more major.
Day 1 - Drove up to Chimney peak from the valley floor. There was a good 3-6" of snow and by late in the afternoon it was turning so slipperly slush. We drove around and caught the sunset on our way down.
Day 2 - Sunrise in the morning. All of my pictures on this trip were taken with my Google Pixel-3.
I will have to wait to post the 2nd part of the trip since I am still going through them.
Upcoming pics (Day 2 + Day 3):
* 4WD up to Panamint mine
* Lunar Eclipse
* 4WD trip to Clair Camp (ghost town) via Pleasant Canyon Loop starting at Ballarat. Pleasant Canyon Loop Trail - California
