Interesting the old timers used transmission fluid mixed with oil or gear grease... lots of Canadians use chainsaw bar oil. Dogtail likes wd 40. In the past I used transmission fluid. Then went to fluid film. I am looking for a fluid that goes semi solid, doesn't easily wash off and not toxic..

given the option of using unprocessed sheep sweet and toxic flammable petrol chemical... I don't know it's a hard call.

Actually, CA says it won't cause cancer (no Prop 65 chemicals, amazingly enough) - but it is outlawed due to CARB / LA-AQMD issues. So, it just makes smog or something while the distillates evaporate.

Been following him as well regarding application of Fluid Film, etc.
The new stuff he’s talking about does sound promising.
Love the idea of only having to apply every other year.
May pick up a few cans and have a go.
Problem is I still have 2 gals of Fluid Film and 1 gal of Wool Max!

That's not a problem. Mix the FF and Wool Wax together and use it up in time. Once that is used up then switch to other things. This is what I am planning on doing.

Switched the bolts in the front to stainless steel because the salt hits that front plus these flanged bolts will not rust to the nuts.

Put the new Condenser back in with all stainless bolts. New dryer with new o rings on the ac lines. Along with 2002 horns and 2002 headlights so we can see were we are going at night.

Then we fitted the 2002 sport hood. Along with painted the caps.. surprised how well a black hood looks on rig.

Well lucky me both license plate bolts were snapped off. One of the reason I use stainless steel flange bolts to hole the license plates bolts. One was long enough I screwed a nut on then welded the nut to the stud. The other I had to build up with weld to get it out. The welding heat also helps break the rust bond.

Got the 3 wires fixed. One broke the other 2 had cracked insulation so I replaced the wires. Used my parts mobile harness as the hatch is rotted out . So I can provide replacement wire out that harness if need be.
I basically replace the bend area when I fixed them..

Looks like I need to repair the driver side seat bracket bolt. I don't see that holding much. Lol

Nicely done. What were the symptoms/problems that led you to open up the tailgate harness?
Seems like it’s a trouble area we all need to deal with at some point in time.

No power to window,wiper would not work. Only one wire on 2 that was the gray one. The light green and blue had cracked insulation so they were on their way out. The rest were fine at this time. I left just less then 1/2 slack too so those fixed wires should last a very long time.

Looks interesting for sure. Like most, only field testing really proves worth.

It can't hurt though.

Did get the tailgate hatch back together..
Got the emergency brake cable back on. Then put new rear shocks on

Found a bad seat bolt issue. Need to get a nut and a few washers to position and weld it back in and strengthen the bracket

Well. This is basically how I fix the seat nut pull through issue. It's a Toyota design flaw. The steel should have been a garage or 2 thicker. Anyways. Get new nut that is the same size an thread as the original. 10m x 1.25. Weld a big washer to it. Then weld nut washer into position.

We got the brakes bleed. Torque the front cv joint nut bolt. Wheels back on lug nuts torqued to spec. Filled up the power steering. Seat back in. Antifreeze in the radiator. Took it for a rip around the yard.

Need to fix :

Reverse lights
Shift lock
Put all the plastic back in [ PO removed]
Change the emergency brake cable.
Change the other 3 seats.
Put the radio console back in
Put the shifter covers back in
Put the front sway bar back in.
Change the front struts.
Verify the front bushings in suspension are good
Replace the rear control arms bushings.

Good news:

Nothing leaking at all.
