broke a mystery wire doing valve cover gaskets

It's a single wire that goes down the back of the engine. It broke when I was trying to lift the monstrosity of the wiring harness out of the way to remove the valve covers.

I am attaching a picture of the wire in question circled in red. That's not my wiring harness, but an imagine of one for sale that clearly shows the wire. It comes down out of the middle plastic piece that joins the 2 plastic pieces that go over each valve cover. Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure that's the wire that plugs into the coolant temp sensor for your dash coolant temp gauge.

You can splice them as the wires are copper so you can even solder and heat shrink it..

Pretty sure that temp sender just has a male spade connector on it. Strip and crimp a basic female spade connector onto the wire. Easy peasy.

I've had to do it before as the OEM connector does become brittle of several hundreds of thousands of miles sometimes.

yep, didn't have enough wire coming out of the wiring harness. I tried to splice it in but it came loose when I was reassembling everything. Left it disconnected for now, pisses me off. At least I have a bluetooth temp reader

good idea. I guess I'll have to take the plenums back off to be able to get back there, huh?

Naturally, I dropped the tiny plastic plug that goes into the sensor and can't find a part number for it. I wonder if an auto parts shop would have one.

This is the part number of the sender itself: 83420-16020. I need the plastic plug piece that plugs into it.
